1. What Residency is
Residency counts the days you spend in countries and compares them to simplified versions of residency rules. It helps you keep a record. It does not decide anyone's tax residence - only a tax authority or a court can do that.
2. Not legal or tax advice
Nothing in the app or on this site is legal, tax, immigration or financial advice, and using them creates no adviser or client relationship. The rules the app applies are simplifications: real tests have limbs, exceptions and discretions the app does not model, and the app tells you so where it matters. Before acting on any number the app shows you - moving, staying, filing, or not filing - speak to a qualified professional in the relevant country.
3. Your record depends on your inputs
Counts are built from what your device recorded and what you told the app. Days can be missing, permissions can be off, and answers can be wrong. The app grades its evidence and shows a range when it cannot be sure; you are responsible for checking the record against reality before relying on it.
4. Rules change
We monitor official sources and update the rules the app applies, but we do not guarantee that any rule in the app is complete, current or correctly applied to your situation.
5. Accounts and sharing
An account is optional. Sharing creates a code: anyone who holds the code can see the day-count snapshot behind it until you withdraw it. Do not share a code with somebody you do not want reading those numbers.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Residency to mislead a tax authority, to construct a record you know to be false, or to interfere with the service or other users.
7. No warranty
The app and site are provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including tax, penalties or interest arising from reliance on the app's figures.
8. Changes
We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
